Summer Construction Update

A worker in an orange shirt and hard hat is handling a tool near a pipe in a dug-out area, with measuring equipment nearby.

Mammoth Community Water District's (MCWD) summer construction project schedule is well underway.

In Progress:

  • Water Lateral Replacements - MCWD crews are currently replacing galvanized iron pipe (GIP) laterals with modern polyethylene (PE) laterals on Creek Lane. These efforts reduce leaks in our system and provide customers with improved water flow. Each construction season, the District replaces laterals in 1-2 neighborhoods across the community.
  • Air Relief Valves - MCWD crews are currently modernizing air relief valves across our system. Each assembly is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and any outdated components are upgraded to current standards.
  • Water Tank Rehab - Lake Mary Treatment Plant Backwash Tank is currently being rehabilitated. This will extend the usable life of this critical facility.

Coming Soon:

  • New monitoring wells will be constructed at Laurel Pond, where treated wastewater is discharged. This project has been fully permitted and will begin construction later this summer.
  • MCWD will be hiring a contractor to install permanent pavement patches on all work constructed this summer, replacing the temporary patches MCWD staff install at time of construction.
  • Water Lateral Replacements and Shutoff Valves- MCWD is planning water lateral work on Waterford Ave., Ridge Way, Panorama Drive, and Bridges Lane.  It is uncertain how many of these projects will be performed during the current construction season.
