The valving and metering equipment are susceptible to damage, which can result in costly and labor-intensive repairs. We strongly recommend a shut off valve be installed inside your home to facilitate seasonal and emergency water shut off.

It is essential to maintain accessibility to the metering equipment at all times and refrain from landscaping over it. In the event of repairs, maintenance crews may need to excavate up to four feet around your meter pit. Therefore, any features installed within this radius should be lightweight and easily movable if repairs are necessary. Avoid installing hard surfaces such as pavers, asphalt, or concrete in this area. Please keep in mind that there are often two meters side by side in many locations. Be sure the meter you locate is the one closest to your property.
